This project has receiven an honorary mention for respecting historical urban values and for creating a proper corelation between an urban square and green recreation area.

The aim of our project was to connect its function of a communication nod with newly designed green areas in order to achieve a central public space which is accessible, friendly and attractive for visitors. Implementing new accompanying function and restoring of the distorted urban composition was the main way to accomplish it. We wanted to reverse the hierarchy of users: it would be pedestrians who became more privileged instead of the cars. Creating an integrated public communication centre, reducing the transit of the cars would free the square for them.

An important composition element of the project was to create new building in a crescent-shaped form linking together Słupecka and Barska streets. They would divide the square in two connecting spaces: one serving the communication and recreation at the same time giving the first clarity and the latter sense of intimacy.
